STATESBORO - Georgia Southern sophomore Nadja Meier has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced Wednesday by league officials.
Meier helped the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 week as the sophomore went 3-0 in singles action and 2-1 in doubles in her six matches. The Potsdam, Germany, native won all three of her singles matches in straight sets, including two against Sun Belt Conference foes. She knocked off Mercer's Alana Hollyfield, 6-4, 6-0, on Wednesday in Georgia Southern's 4-0 win over Mercer. Meier then defeated Mathilde Tranberg of Coastal Carolina, 6-1, 6-3, in the Eagles' 4-0 win over the Chanticleers on Saturday.
