Led by sophomore guard Elijah McCadden, who scored a career high 28 points with seven 3 pointers, Georgia Southern beat Mercer at home, 98-88, on Tuesday.
In the first half, the Eagles were down as many as 15 but were able to get their very first lead of the game since the opening possession with 1:37 left in the first half with key baskets by senior guard Ike Smith and McCadden. The crowd roared as the team finally found their rhythm.
The Eagles entered halftime leading 48-46, with McCadden’s 16 points in the forefront.
In the second half, GS carried their momentum as they came out and shot 68 percent from the field as a team.
