COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Georgia Southern women's soccer team began its 2019 season in College Park, Maryland, Thursday night, falling 2-1 to University of Maryland.
Maryland scored in the first 90 seconds of play before the Eagles got in an aggressive mindset. Georgia Southern's first shot came from Vala Kristin Theodorsdottir in the fourth minute. The Eagles fought hard to keep Maryland from scoring again in the first half. The Blue and White benefited from an own goal by UMD in the 38th minute bringing the score to 1-1 to end the half.
