STATESBORO, Ga. – The nearly 400 student-athletes who make up the Georgia Southern Athletics Department earned a 3.048 GPA for the 2017-2018 academic year, as announced Thursday by director of athletics Tom Kleinlein. This mark surpasses the past two year's GPA of 3.01, making it the highest mark in department history. It is also the third-consecutive year the student-athletes have reached the 3.0 threshold. This spring, the athletic GPA was 3.05, while the fall GPA was 3.04.
"We continue to set the bar higher and our student-athletes keep hitting the mark," Kleinlein said. "The hard work of Reggie Simpkins and his staff, along with the work put in by our student-athletes, continues to be noticed, recognized and appreciated.
