STATESBORO - For the first time since joining the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia Southern has swept the league's weekly softball honors. Sophomore Aaliyah Garcia was named the league's Pitcher of the Week, while sophomore Bailee Wilson earned Player of the Week honors, announced today by the league.
Garcia went 2-0 with an 0.00 ERA in her two starts against South Alabama, outdueling NFCA Freshman of the Year Watch List hurler Olivia Lackie in both contests. She gave up just two hits and one unearned run in five innings of Friday's 9-1 run-rule win over the Jaguars, then fired a three-hit shutout on Sunday, beating South Alabama by a 2-0 score for her first collegiate shutout.
