STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team defeated the RedHawks of Miami (OH) 4-3 at J.I. Clements Stadium on Friday night to take a 1-0 lead in the weekend series.
Both the Eagles and RedHawks starting pitchers put on a clinic, as neither team would drive home any runs during the first four and a half innings. In the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles would get on the board first, as would score an unearned run as the Miami second baseman dropped a fly ball, taking a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Georgia Southern would add on to its lead, as a Brown single would plate , giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
