STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team came away from Sunday's game with a 16-0 win at J.I. Clements Stadium. It was the first game of the Eagles season that ended in a run-rule, as the Eagles were up by more than 10 runs in the seventh inning.
Action started in the bottom of the first inning when designated hitter Corey Dowdell crushed a ball to left center field, putting the Eagles (14-14, 5-4 SBC) up 3-0 shortly after the game had begun. In the bottom of the second inning, the Eagles would add four more runs, first from a Jesse Sherrill RBI-single scoring Cameron Crosby, followed up by a Noah Ledford three-run shot to center field to give Georgia Southern a 7-0 lead over the Monarchs (22-6, 7-2 SBC) at the end of three frames.
