STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team withstood a ninth-inning rally from the UT-Arlington baseball team to open up a three-game Sun Belt Conference series with a 5-3 win Thursday evening at J.I. Clements Stadium.
Georgia Southern (36-17, 21-7 SBC) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning beginning with an RBI-single from Christian Avant, scoring Jason Swan, followed up with an RBI-single by Austin Thompson to bring Avant back to the plate.
Jarrett Brown would be responsible for the Eagles' final three runs, first with an RBI-single in the bottom of the third inning to score Noah Ledford.
