PHILADELPHIA- The Georgia Southern track and field team finished up their last regular season event this weekend at the nationwide Penn Relays before they head to the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in two weeks. While in Philadelphia, the Eagles had a chance to go up against teams from all over the U.S. and held their own against top programs.
"It was great for our athletes to come to Philadelphia and compete in the historic Penn relays," head coach Kelly Carter said. "They competed well and ran great. I'm very proud of them."
On Thursday, the 4x400m relay team – that comprised of Desiree Blunt, Bailey Willett, Breanna Thorton and Jillian Sloane - placed 37th out of 81 teams and the 4x100m group- which included Tatiyana Rayford, Chasin Gladdis, Desiree Blunt and Anika Carter- placed among the top 50.
