STATESBORO - A nine-run inning propelled the Georgia Southern baseball team past the UT-Arlington Mavericks 18-9 at J.I. Clements Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Georgia Southern (37-17, 22-7 SBC) got started early, opening up with a Christian Avant home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles would plate another run with a Jarrett Brown RBI-single, sending Noah Ledford home.
UT-Arlington (15-37, 7-22 SBC) would tie the game with runs in the top of the second inning and top of the fifth inning, but Georgia Southern would knock two solo homers in the bottom of the fifth inning, one by Sam Blancato and one by Kyler Hultgren, to take a 4-2 lead after the end of the fifth inning.
