Eagles Blank Mercer, 4-0, On Wednesday Afternoon

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern women's tennis notched its fourth won out of its last five matches with a 4-0 victory over in-state rival Mercer on Wednesday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center.

The Eagles improved to 10-8 with the win, while Mercer falls to 5-6. Georgia Southern returns to Wallis on Saturday, taking on Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt Conference action at 1 p.m.

Georgia Southern collected the doubles point by overcoming an early 1-0 deficit as Mercer won at No. 1 doubles. The Eagles tied things up with a win at No. 3 doubles, then Paula Boixader and Nadja Meier broke serve at 6-5 to collect the 7-5 win and the point.
