STATESBORO - Georgia Southern freshman defender Claire Casey has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by league officials.
Casey tallied her first two collegiate goals, while helping the Eagles to a pair of clean sheets in a 2-0 week this past week. The Williamston, Mich., native headed in a goal off of a corner kick in Thursday's 3-0 win over North Florida for her first collegiate tally. She then notched another corner kick header on Sunday against Jacksonville State just 58 seconds into the 2-0 win over the Gamecocks.
