CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina used a six-run second inning to claim a five-inning 8-0 win over visiting Georgia Southern in Sun Belt softball action on Friday night from Conway.
The Chanticleers improved to 26-9 overall and 3-4 in the Sun Belt with the victory, while Georgia Southern falls to 11-19 overall and 1-6 in the league. The two teams will resume their series with a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday.
Coastal Carolina pushed a run across in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a wild pitch, then got a three-run home run from Indya Smith and a two-run home run from Riley Zana in the six-run second to build a 7-0 lead.
