Georgia Southern redshirt-senior kicker Tyler Bass has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, announced Wednesday.
The honor is awarded to the “individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.”
Bass was the single nomination from GS, and is one of 185 semifinalists for the award presented by Mazda. Other Sun Belt players to be named as semifinalists are Hutch White (Texas State), Terry Thomas (Georgia State), Cody Grace (Arkansas State) and Jordan Fehr (Appalachian State).
Candidates for this award must be a senior in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.
