A memorable summer has gotten even better for former University of Georgia standout Ellen Perez after learning she will be a part of Australia’s Olympic tennis team in Tokyo.
The 25-year-old Perez (UGA 2015-17), who hails from Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia, will be competing in doubles with three-time Grand Slam doubles champion Sam Stosur, the Australian Olympic Selection Committee announced recently.
It will be the first Olympics for Perez who is ranked 50th in the world in doubles. She is a seven-time finalist and two-time champion on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) doubles circuit.
