The last 10 months have constituted a self-described “whirlwind” for Georgia women’s basketball coach Joni Taylor.
Last April, after more than a dozen years as an assistant coach (with the last four coming at Georgia), Taylor was named just the second full-time head coach in Lady Bulldogs history, taking over for the iconic Andy Landers.
Four months later, she married former South Carolina assistant coach Darius Taylor, and November brought her first season as a head coach.
And by most standards, it was a successful season, especially when compared to Landers’ final campaign, when Georgia lost an unprecedented eight consecutive Southeastern Conference games and missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in 21 years.
