It certainly wasn’t the story of the night, but an interesting side note on the 2019 Sugar Bowl comes courtesy of the UGA defensive participation chart. With several key contributors out for various reasons, Kirby Smart and his staff played several freshmen who’d seen little or no time this season. How much that helps with 2019 remains to be seen, but it’s probably a bright spot from an otherwise forgettable loss.
Perhaps most notably freshman Divaad Wilson, who underwent offseason knee surgery saw his first action of the season and ended up playing 65 snaps on the night.
