Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer’s last appearance for the Buckeyes will be in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, the school announced Tuesday.
Ryan Day, Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, will take over as the Buckeyes’ head coach on January 2.
It has been a tumultuous season for the former Florida head coach. He’s dealt with health problems and a scandal involving former coach Zach Smith, in which Meyer denied he knew about allegations about a domestic violence incident involving Smith’s now-ex-wife. Ohio State suspended Meyer for this season’s first three games.
Meyer, age 54, owns a career record of 186-32 and has coached the Buckeyes to an 82-9 record in seven seasons at Ohio State.
