Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity confirmed the school will honor a verbal agreement to pay Mark Richt $4.1 million as a buyout even though he never signed his contract extension. “The contract that our board approved at the previous board meeting is in full effect and will certainly be honored,” McGarity said. “There are no issues there even though it’s not executed, and that’s the way it’s always been. A handshake means something here.”
