UGA punter Marshall Longer officially announces retirement from football; pens heartfelt letter

Georgia punter Marshall Long came to Athens as a three-star in the class of 2016 out of South Rowan High School in China Grove, North Carolina.

Long came to Georgia in 2016 as a three-star punter out of China Grove, North Carolina. He started the first nine games of the season that year, punting 49 times for an average of 38.7 yards per punt, including a 59 yarder against South Carolina.

Long’s final game was in 2016 when Georgia beat Kentucky in Lexington. Unfortunately, during a punt-block drill the week after, he suffered a nasty knee injury that eventually led to three surgeries and ended his football career.
