UGA AD wanted to fire Richt in 2014, overruled by president

The Georgia Bulldogs are essentially eliminated from SEC East contention after falling to Florida last weekend. There are a large amount of fans that are calling for head coach Mark Richt to be fired, but there has been no indication of it happening just yet.

According to USA TODAY, however, it seems as though Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity has been in favor of getting Richt for sometime.

The site reported that McGarity wanted to fire Richt last year, but University President Jere Morehead overruled the decision.

“Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity favored a coaching change after last season but was overruled by president Jere Morehead.
