MACON | Kirby Smart’s first speaking engagement before fans as Georgia’s football coach brought about a 15 second-standing ovation before he said his first word Monday night.

“I’m on a honeymoon, right?” Smart said during his talk at the Macon Touchdown Club’s annual jamboree. “You see that standing ovation. You think if I don’t win enough games next year, they won’t even invite me back. Coach (Jim) McElwain or coach (Butch) Jones will be here.
