Slowing down the offense has helped Georgia close strong

Leaning on the defense and slowing the pace has saved the season for Georgia.

While the results may be unspectacular on paper, Georgia's huddled offense has been crucial in the midseason turnaround.

After scoring 53 total points in a midseason 1-3 stretch, the Dawgs coaching staff decided slowing things down and abandoning the up-tempo offense might fix things. They were right.

"We've decided to slow the game down a little bit," head coach Mark Richt said. "Decided to try to control the ball a little bit more. You know, do things that aren't really sexy when it comes to football, offensive football, but things that we thought were going to help us win.
