According to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, the Georgia football program will be getting new lights for its stadium next season.
Sanford Stadium, now roughly a century old, is having its current lights replaced with an all-new LED system which will likely be similar to that of SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
The change comes after the newly created tradition of ‘Light Up Sanford’ with iPhone lights at the start of the 4th quarter. Though nothing has been confirmed, it’s possible that Georgia can temporarily turn everything off for the tradition, similar to how the Braves do their ‘Tomahawk Chop’ in between innings.
