Earlier today, Mark Richt informed his players that he would be stepping down as Georgia Bulldogs head coach following the team’s bowl game. It was news that caught plenty of people off guard, but there may be a much bigger plan in place.
According to rumors circulating around the internet, Richt agreed to step down in order to serve in a much bigger role.
The rumor indicates Richt stepped down to get money flowing once again by donors who were calling for a change. However, in order to preserve the team’s recruiting class, Richt will retain duties at the university.
