Richt suspends 2 players after marijuana arrest

University of Georgia freshman football players Natrez Patrick and Chauncey Rivers were arrested on misdemeanor possession of marijuana charges early Wednesday morning, according to booking reports at the Athens-Clarke County Jail.

The players were arrested by UGA police early Wednesday morning. According to the jail log, Patrick was booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail at 2:23 a.m., and Rivers was booked 21 minutes later.

Patrick was released on $1,000 bound around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. Rivers was still being held on $1,000 bond early Wednesday morning, according to the jail log.

Under the Georgia athletics department's drug and alcohol policy, both players are subject to automatic one-game suspensions.
