Reports: Georgia TE coach Shane Beamer leaving for Oklahoma

After two seasons as an assistant, Georgia tight ends coach Shane Beamer reportedly is leaving for Oklahoma.

Various media reports have Beamer — the son of former longtime Virginia Tech coach Shane Beamer — leaving for the Sooners, and ESPN has further reported that Beamer will be the assistant head coach for offense.

Beamer was hired away from Virginia Tech, where he had been running backs coach for five years, when Kirby Smart became Bulldogs coach. Beamer also served as the Bulldogs’ special teams coordinator.

Smart now has two openings on his staff. Beamer leaving opens up the tight ends job, while the addition of the 10th assistant creates another opening.
