Reports: Georgia has its new offensive coordinator

Numerous media reports say new Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart has tabbed Jim Chaney, 53, to be his offensive coordinator. Chaney spent this season as Pitt’s OC under defense-minded coach Pat Narduzzi, and like Narduzzi, Smart is a defense-minded coach.

Chaney had spent the previous six seasons in the SEC: four seasons as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator (2009-12) and two seasons in that role at Arkansas (2013-14). Chaney was hired at Tennessee by Lane Kiffin but remained in the same role when Derek Dooley took over.

Chaney also spent four seasons as Purdue’s offensive coordinator under Joe Tiller, who ran a version of the spread when Chaney was OC (2002-05).
