Georgia offensive lineman Greg Pyke, a preseason first-team All-SEC pick, had appendicitis surgery Monday but is expected to be fine for the season-opening game September 3 against North Carolina.
The Athens Banner-Herald reported the news, citing a source close to the program.
Pyke began last season at guard but was moved to right tackle in the final month. He practiced with the first-team offensive line at right tackle during spring practice but still could move back to guard because of graduate transfer Tyler Catalina. Catalina, who had played at Rhode Island, is seen as a potential starter at right tackle.
