The Athens Banner-Herald was the first to report the news, then it was confirmed by The Telegraph. Pyke underwent the surgery on Monday in order to treat appendicitis. Though Georgia has not officially confirmed the reports, the outlets did indicate that Pyke should be ready to play in the Bulldogs’ season opener.
They will need him. Pyke is one of Georgia’s few experienced offensive linemen. He’s played in 27 games with 23 starts, and although he has exclusively played at guard in the past, Pyke got in some work at tackle during spring practice.
