Tucker, 44, was hired by new Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart last month; the two also worked together this past season, when Smart was defensive coordinator at Alabama and Tucker was the Tide’s secondary coach. He was the Chicago Bears’ defensive coordinator in 2013 and ’14 after spending the previous four seasons as DC of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He had a pro mentality of sorts at Alabama, and former Tide cornerback Cyrus Jones was a big fan.
“I miss being around him already,” Jones said at the Senior Bowl last month. “Just for the things he brought to the table as far as instilling in us great (attention to) detail, discipline and just being on top of our game at all times.
