Trent Bryde, a sophomore on the Georgia men’s tennis team, has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Bryde continued the impressive start to his second collegiate season with a win against Texas’ No. 2-ranked Yuya Ito at the No. 1 singles court. Ito entered the contest against Bryde with a 21-1 overall record and had only lost four total singles matches dating back to the 2019 dual-match season.
“Trent had a terrific match on Saturday,” head coach Manuel Diaz. “We have tremendous respect for Yuya Ito, who is one of the best players in the country.
