Alabama graduate transfer defensive back Maurice Smith started–just the third time in his college career–and had a team-leading 3 tackles and a pass breakup in the first quarter alone of the 33-24 victory over North Carolina Saturday night.

“Just coming in, I didn’t come here not to play or just to be a contributor to the team,” Smith said.
