“What’s fair and what’s not fair for a college football program?” Mitchell said. “I’m not sure. I know I loved (Richt) as a coach and as a person, and I was sad to see him leave that university.”
Georgia has not won an SEC championship and Mitchell says he knows that’s why Richt isn’t around anymore.
“They wanted a championship,” Mitchell said. “And we as a team did not deliver that last season.”
Richt said as much at his farewell news conference.
Mitchell, meanwhile, is going to be busy the next few days. He was on the field Saturday for wide receiver drills at the combine, and he will hit the field again Monday because one team wants to see him go through defensive back drills.
