After securing a piece of land for a new wheelchair accessible home, it was finally time to let Devon Gales break ground. The former Southern University wide receiver who was paralyzed on a kickoff against Georgia has been in search of a new home for more than a year now.
The Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation told Gales he would be getting a new home in 2016, but funding fell through, unfortunately. However, Georgia alumnus Jim Butterworth created a new campaign called ‘Build for Devon’ which raised $250,000 for the home. Former Georgia linebacker Whit Marshall rose to the occasion and donated a generous amount for Gales back in July.
