Kirby Smart’s turn: UGA has a new driver at the wheel

At the age of 15, Kirby Smart wasn’t quite old enough to have a driver’s license the first time he attended a game in Sanford Stadium.

Now he has been handed the keys to Georgia’s football program.

It’s a long way from that home game against Clemson on Oct. 5, 1991 when Smart caught a ride with a friend’s family from his south Georgia hometown of Bainbridge and saw Eric Zeier debut as starting quarterback in a 27-12 Bulldogs win.
