In the span of six years (2012, 2017, 2018), Georgia’s lost three heartbreaking games to the Alabama Crimson Tide. All were in Atlanta and all featured a blown lead by the Bulldogs.
We don’t like to talk about them – because, quite simply, it is too painful. To be so close to glory and having it ripped from your grasp is a painful feeling as a sports fan. Years later, the 2012 loss still makes me sick to my stomach.
I assume Kirby Smart, who has not said much to the media since Georgia’s Sugar Bowl loss, does not like talking about the gut-wrenching losses to his former boss either (2017 and 2018)
However, Tony Barnhart of TMG, one of college football’s most respected reporters (and a Georgia alum), was able to talk with Smart about what went wrong in the SEC Championship loss to Alabama.
