Prior to the start of the 2018 season, nobody expected Georgia’s week seven matchup vs LSU to be such an important and meaningful game.
UGA fans were of course excited for the opportunity to cross another historic venue off the bucket list and to have a reason to either celebrate or drown their sorrows on Bourbon Street. But now, with LSU at 5-1 and Georgia sitting pretty at 6-0, this game carries some serious Playoff implications.
It does not help either team that LSU fell short to Florida on Saturday. It puts a slight dent in the Dawgs’ strength of schedule, but if UGA is to lose in Baton Rouge, I don’t think many voters would shame Georgia for a loss in Death Valley to a 5-1 LSU team, as long as it’s a competitive game.
