Kentucky beats Diamond Dogs 14-6 to claim SEC-opening series

Georgia baseball dropped its first Southeastern Conference series Sunday, losing to Kentucky 14-6 at Foley Field.

Georgia (14-7, 1-2 SEC) sent Connor Jones to the mound to face the Wildcats (14-5, 2-1 SEC), and he had another strong start working in the third inning despite giving up a run in the first. He threw a wild pitch on a strikeout of Luke Becker. Catcher Michael Curry couldn’t handle it, so Becker reached first base anyway. After a sacrifice, Evan White reached on a fielding error by Mitchell Webb. Kentucky’s JaVon Shelby homered to left field, scoring Becker and White and pushing the Wildcats ahead 4-0.
