It sounds strange, but history may be on Georgia’s side against Florida this year

To say that the past 27 years of the Florida-Georgia rivalry has gone Florida’s way would be an understatement. The Gators enter the 2017 edition of the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” having won 21 of the past 27 meetings.

But if history in that span has taught us anything, then 2017 will be the year of the Bulldogs in the rivalry.

Rewind the clock 20 years, to 1997. Florida coach Steve Spurrier was 7-0 against Georgia entering that contest. The Gators were ranked sixth entering the contest, Jim Donnan’s Bulldogs 14th. Both were 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC.
