Former Georgia running back and 1982 Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker has been named the No. 2 all-time college football player, according to an ESPN announcement at halftime of the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship Game on Monday night.
The listing of college football’s top 25 players is a continuation of ESPN and the CFP honoring the 150th anniversary of the sport throughout the season.
Walker, a Wrightsville, Ga., native finished his career with 11 NCAA records, 16 Southeastern Conference records and 41 Bulldog records during his career from 1980-82. The three-time All-American registered 5,259 yards rushing and 52 touchdowns and had his jersey retired by UGA in 1985.
