Herschel Walker turned 55 Friday, and legendary former Georgia coach Vince Dooley reminisced about how he and his staff recruited Walker on “The Paul Finebaum Show.”
Then-assistant Mike Cavan — now part of Kirby Smart’s support staff — is credited for getting Walker to become a Bulldog, and Dooley said that Cavan basically lived in Walker’s hometown of Wrightsville, Ga., during the process. But Cavan wasn’t the only coach to basically set up camp in the small Georgia town.
“I think he would come home on the weekend to see his wife,” Dooley said, “then go back down there on Monday and just stay there.
