ATHENS, Ga. – You may have seen Georgia outside linebacker Davin Bellamy with golden shoulder pads Saturday night against Notre Dame. That is because he forced the fumble on Irish quarterback Brandon Wimbush to secure the 20-19 win for the Bulldogs.
No, Bellamy is not auditioning to become the third member of the Legion of Doom wrestling tag-team duo. Instead, the gold pads — complete with spikes — are the creation of the Bulldogs’ defense to pay homage to a group of fans in the student section at Sanford Stadium.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart is in full support.
