Paced by 189 yards rushing from Nick Chubb and a spectacular punt return touchdown from Isaiah McKenzie, Georgia won its SEC opener on Saturday at Vanderbilt and moved up in Sunday’s AP Top 25.
Previously ranked ninth, Georgia leap two spots to No. 7 after overcoming a sluggish start in Nashville.
The Bulldogs picked off Vanderbilt quarterback Johnny McCrary three times in Saturday’s win, including one that was returned 88 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth by Dominick Sanders.
Linebacker Jordan Jenkins picked up two of the Bulldogs’ three sacks.
“Just to get out of a game like this with a victory and still be able to learn from it will be very valuable to us, and that’ll be our goal,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said.
