ATHENS, Ga. — Lorenzo Carter has been known to wreck opposing team backfields. But if your knowledge of him goes beyond his football prowess, you may also know that he has a deep-rooted interest and talent in classical music.
In fact, the outside linebacker was a one-time member of the orchestra program in middle school where he played the cello.
Yes, the cello.
“It’s pretty relaxing,” said Carter, who even noted that he was first chair. “That was my first love. I fell in love with the sound.”
Later, when he went to a different middle school that didn’t offer orchestra, he learned how to play the tuba, baritone and trombone in a standard band class, too.
