Mecole Hardman’s switch from defensive back to wide receiver last season got off to an inauspicious start, as the quarterback-turned-cornerback-turned-wide out failed to eclipse 27 yards in any of Georgia’s first six games, scoring only one touchdown through the air. Hardeman’s productivity picked up down the stretch as he eventually worked his way into finishing as the team’s third-leading receiver.
Hardman closed the season by catching 25 passes for 418 yards and four touchdowns, culminating in a national championship game in which he scored once on the ground and once through the air.
According to Hardman, he’s just starting to hit his stride.
