The No. 5 Georgia women’s tennis team captured its sixth National Championship on Tuesday by defeating No. 3 North Carolina in an epic clash out west.
After upsetting No. 2 Vanderbilt and No. 1 Stanford earlier in the week, the Lady Bulldogs were bound for battle with the Lady Tar Heels on Tuesday in Seattle.
A battle it was, with both teams deadlocked 3-3 before one final match.
Katarina Jokic (UGA) and Makenna Jones (UNC) had the final say in who would be taking home the trophy.
Jones (UNC) won the first set 7-6 in a tiebreak before Jokic (UGA) took the second outright, 7-5.
