Georgia survives overtime upset bid from pesky Georgia Southern

Georgia knows it usually has to defeat Georgia Tech to claim superiority in the Peach State. The Bulldogs weren’t ready for relatively new FBS program Georgia Southern to try to stake claim to the title.

Pushed to the limits by the Group of 5 Eagles, the Bulldogs escaped with a 23-17 overtime win.

Georgia Southern, which led at two different points in the second half, made the bold decision to go for it on 4th-and-1 in overtime, but the Eagles were stuffed and turned the ball over on downs.

It took one play for the Bulldogs to end the upset bid, as Sony Michel ran off left tackle for a game-winning 25-yard touchdown.
