Behind a strong performance from junior pitcher Andrew Gist the Georgia Bulldogs downed ranked Georgia Tech 3-1 on Tuesday in Atlanta. Gist turned in a career-high eight inning performance and did not surrender a run until the opening of the ninth, when he was tagged for a solo home run. Prior to that Gist struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Gist's stellar performance came at a convenient time as the Georgia batting order struggled to break through against Tech right-hander Cole Pitts. Pitts didn't give up a run until the Diamond Dogs put one across the plate with two outs in the fifth.
