Georgia started the 2015 season with a 4-0 mark, and there were high hopes. But following a demoralizing 38-10 loss to Alabama at Sanford Stadium, the season sort of frittered away. The Bulldogs won 10 games, but beat just three teams with a winning record (Auburn and Georgia Southern in the regular season, and Penn State in the TaxSlayer Bowl).
The season marked the end of the 15-year road for coach Mark Richt, who was replaced by Georgia alum Kirby Smart. Smart had been Alabama’s defensive coordinator for the past nine seasons, and his job is to consistently win games over ranked opponents and — oh, yeah — win the SEC East.
